Yoga for Beginners & Level 1

This level incorporates a wide variety of postures to strengthen and lengthen. Explanations of the hows and whys in yoga will be appreciated by the new student.  Thoughtful attention to alignment is emphasized.  Props such as bolster pillows, blankets, straps and blocks are freely used to help deepen or support your exploration, while maintaining safety and caution.    All levels welcome.

Yoga at the Wall

Experience yoga asanas with the help of one of yoga’s most therapeutic props, the wall. Take your practice to a new level by increasing core strength, stamina, centering, and isometric conditioning. The king of all props enables beginners to easily pursue accurate body alignment, achieve postural stability early on, and avoid excessive strain on the wrist and ankle joints. More experienced students will find that the yoga at the wall continually challenges their strength and flexibility by allowing them to fine-tune more advanced poses, such as inversions and deep backbends. Come join us for a variety of asanas including standing poses, inversions, twists, chest openers, and forward bends. You will see how yoga at the wall can add a new dimension to your practice.  All levels welcome.

Mindful Yoga

This heart-centered class is based on the classic yoga system to create a slow and joyful practice that is more about the spiritual and  meditative path than the more structured and alignment based schools of yoga. Students looking to learn more about chakras or access their inner harmony will appreciate this class.  Pranayama and relaxation techniques will round out this “old school” hatha practice.  All levels welcome.

Yoga for Levels 2 & 3

This level challenges intermediate and advanced practitioners with advanced standing asana, inversions and arm balances and pranayama.   Six months of yoga experience recommended.

Core Power Hot Yoga

This intermediate to advanced class is practiced in a heated studio approximately 95 to 100 degrees.    This vinyasa-based class links up yoga postures in a creative, fun and flowing way to keep you moving.  Suitable for some beginners who would enjoy the effects of the heat and the pace. Heat increases flexibility and also produces a cleansing effect on the body.  Bring plenty of water, a yoga towel (or light beach towel), dress lightly and be prepared to sweat.    Six months of yoga experience recommended but not necessary for those with active lifestyles.  Levels 1, 2 & 3.

Hot Yoga

This intermediate to advanced class is practiced in a heated studio approximately 90 to 95 degrees. This classic hot yoga uses static holds (and some flow), which means you are lengthening specific parts of the body depending on what pose you are in and then contracting other parts of the body to keep you stable, which means you are isometrically contracting the muscles that are keeping you stable. Heat increases blood flow throughout the body and also produces a cleansing effect on the body. Bring plenty of water, a yoga towel (or light beach towel), dress lightly and be prepared to sweat. Levels 1 & 2.

Vinyasa or Power Yoga

Flow or vinyasa classes link up yoga postures (asanas) in a creative, fun, and ‘flowing’ way to keep you moving.  Flow focuses specifically in vinyasa (breath synchronized movement), alignment as you enter and exit poses, and staying present with each moment of your practice.  Suitable for some beginners who are physically fit and all intermediate and advanced students.  Levels 1, 2 & 3.

Open Level Flow

A beginners vinyasa class which links up yoga postures (asanas) in a creative, fun, and ‘flowing’ way to keep you moving.  This class moves slower to allow for proper alignment in and between transitions from one posture to another.  Suitable for all levels including beginners and younger students between the ages of 12 and 17.

Pilates & Yoga

A 60 minute class focusing on a flowing warm up and classic mat pilates exercises with just the right amount of yoga postures to leave you feeling great.  Beginners, level 1, 2 & 3.

Yin & Yang Yoga

Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, joints, and even the bones of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice. Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is challenging due to the long duration of the postures, and is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and spine.   Beginners, level 1, 2 & 3.

Meditate & Elongate

This class practices several meditation techniques and offers gentle asana and pranayama to prepare the body for longer meditations.   Meditation is a way of becoming fully awake, aware and alert to one’s experience.   Participants learn usable and effective techniques for cultivating mindful attention to daily life.  Meditation helps increase attentiveness, peacefulness, and compassion while decreasing stress, emotional distress, and distraction.   All levels welcome.
